Choice Piece
Exhibition Text
This piece shows that you can't wash away and cover up your mistakes, you must deal with them. much of the politics that influence our world today teach the public that its okay to lie, and hid behind the truth. I was inspired by the political art of Mark Bryan, and how he illustrates the truth about government.
Inspiration
Syd's Hands
By Leia Skorlinski I took a picture of my sister's hands holding stained bubbles, I came up with the idea of stained hands in the shower, I then replicated this image onto the canvas, by free handing it.

Trump o Matic
By Mark bryan Trump O Matic reflects the stupidity of our president, and how he wrongfully influences the public, and hides the true problems that our country is facing today.
the piece addresses that Trump only has few actions that he is able to choose from: fear, hate, lie, bully, and brag. he chooses hate because he is incapable of being anything else but a hateful puppet that has no idea how to run a country, as he stands on a platform of immigrants, instead of helping them, He alienates, and turns the public against them. He is a snake, who is full of himself, yet people are too blinded to lies to see the truth, and they love him. |

Process/technique/experimentation
I free handed the image of my sister's hands onto the canvas. I then put an acrylic wash on the canvas with a skin tone, and slowly added shading to the hands. I was sure to darken the creases to create the affect of stained hands. I also made sure that under the fingernails appeared dirty to show the struggle of trying to wash away your problems without actually dealing with the problem itself.
I experimented with trying to create black bubbles, first I tried a mixture of black acrylic paint, and miracle bubbles. However, the bubbles remained white so I had to do more experimenting.
I then used a mixture of black food coloring, and bubble solution that turned the bubbles black. I applied the black bubbles to the white bubbles on the canvas, and waited for them to dry in a bubble pattern

I then applied the Black bubbles to the rest of the painting, especially the stained areas, and I let it drip.
I then blew bubbles onto the canvas to create the popping effect on the canvas, I was pleased with the effect of the bubbles dripping down the canvas.

Reflection
This piece expresses the problems facing our world today, and how politicians and how they believe they can just wash their hands of the problems effecting our society instead of actually dealing with them. This piece features two hands stained with problems, trying to wash the problems off with tainted water, therefore never really becoming clean. Some struggles I faced when creating this piece was getting the bubbles to stain the painting, and stay where I put them, but I realized how much more the message is conveyed because you cant force things into place. I really enjoyed blowing the bubbles onto the canvas and seeing the different shapes and forms they created as they popped. I am really proud of this piece, and I stand by the message completely.
